Al-Ahad

المعنى · Meaning

المتفرّد

The One.

الشرح والدلالة · Explanation

الأحد هو المتفرّد الذي لا يقبل التجزئة ولا النظير.

Al-Ahad means 'The One' or 'The Only One'. It signifies that Allah is uniquely one in His essence, with no components, parts, or divisions. Unlike Al-Waahid which emphasizes oneness in number, Al-Ahad emphasizes absolute indivisible uniqueness. He is the One who has never been, is not, and will never be in any form of plurality. Quran References: 'Say, He is Allah, the One (Al-Ahad)' (112:1). Spiritual Significance: Al-Ahad is the purest expression of Allah's oneness. It negates any concept of composition, partnership, or multiplicity in the divine essence. Benefit: Reciting Al-Ahad strengthens the heart with pure monotheism, removes all traces of shirk, and brings one closer to the essence of faith. It is especially beneficial for internalizing the reality of Allah's oneness.
